It’s not just sci-fi and comic-book geeks who get to attend conventions dedicated to their passions. Soap opera fans can attend a variety of events, from fan club gatherings, to charity fundraisers, to more intimate get-togethers focused on one actor in particular.
There are also book-signings, night-club appearances, and plays with receptions afterwards.
It’s all done for you — the fans! But how do fans really feel about all their options? Over 11,000 shared their opinions!
Casual Fan Days
You might watch General Hospital (GH), The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), Days Of Our Lives (DOOL) and The Young and the Restless (YR) five days a week, but that’s the extent of your commitment, admit 38%.
You don’t need to see the actors outside of their natural habitat, i.e. your television screen. Besides, seeing them with real-life spouses and kids, or finding out that the hissable villain is really a nice guy — or vice-versa — just ruins the afternoon fantasy.
Who’s Who
That depends, hedge 35% of you; who’s going to be there? If it’s a favorite of yours then, yeah, sure, it’s worth the drive — and the price of admission. But if it’s only the folks whom you fast-forward when they’re on your screen, you’ll take a pass on shelling out the cash to avoid them in person, too.
Ain’t Nothing Like the Real Thing, Baby
Actors on your television may appear smaller than they actually are. Which is why 25% of viewers prefer to take their measure in person. Fan events are so much fun! It’s your only opportunity to actually yell back at the screen — and get heard.
Plus, you get to meet and bond with other people who love — or hate — your stories as much as you do. And then there are the selfie opportunities! The other fans on Facebook will be so jealous!
