A devastating announcement by CBS has confirmed the horrible rumor that spread earlier this week: Both The Young and the Restless (YR) and The Bold and the Beautiful (BB) are being cancelled, effective immediately. The news came with very little warning, catching both fans and actors alike off-guard.
According to the press release, recent storylines have simply been “too intense” and “potentially distressing” for many viewers… although with viewers themselves reportedly enjoying things, the source of these complaints is unclear.
An atmosphere of utter anguish descended on the sets of the two shows, leaving many of the now-unemployed stars in tears.
There is no word yet on what programming will replace these beloved daytime dramas, though some have speculated that a show about a wisecracking garden gnome will fill the time slots. Regardless of what happens, this is certainly an unexpected start to the month of April.
And by the way: Happy April Fool’s day (It’s April 1st somewhere, right?)
