On General Hospital (GH), Jake (Hudson West) has been at the center of the action since before he was born.

First, there was the traditional Who’s the Daddy question, since Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) slept with both husband Lucky (then-Greg Vaughn) and brooding hit-man Jason (then-Steve Burton).

After Jake was born and determined to be Jason’s, Jason walked away from his son in order to protect him, letting Lucky claim paternity, and viewers were treated to endless scenes of Jason walking in pain, sitting in pain, and gazing off in the distance while in pain.

And then Jake “died.” Who killed Jake? It was Luke (Anthony Geary). Who got Jake’s kidney? It was Joss! Carly (Laura Wright) wept. Jason continued to remained pained.

Oops, turns out Jake wasn’t dead, after all. Helena (Constance Towers) had him all along. So Luke is innocent (even though he was driving drunk and could well have killed Jake or someone else). And Joss actually got Nelle’s (Chloe Lanier) kidney… which is a whole other story.

Yay, Jake is back! Elizabeth is happy! Jason (Billy Miller) is no longer in pain! And Franco (Roger Howarth) is a hero because… why not?

That’s a lot of front-burner action for someone yet to hit middle-school. How do fans feel about all Jake, all the time?

OK, fine, Jake is back — can we move on to something else, wonder 65% of you. You tune in to your soaps to watch love in the afternoon, not foam sword battles and whiny kids. Why do Franco and Liz’s scenes need to be interrupted for playtime?

Getting There
But at least something interesting is happening, counter 31% of viewers. What did happen to Jake during the Helena years, and why does he think his new sister, Scout, is in need of protection from Helena and her oh-so-frequent curses? The answer better live up to the build up! And not get dragged out out until everyone loses interest. See Nelle, above.
