With Steve Burton’s last scene on The Young and the Restless airing this week, fans are already wishing him luck on social media and wondering if they’ll ever see him on their soap screens again.

Well, on Friday he left a coy tweet that made us feel there may be a time for more Steve Burton yet.

Indeed, daytime is home for Burton, a bonafide soap star for decades.

Burton has been a soap staple since he was 17 years old, making his daytime debut as Harris Michaels on Days of Our Lives in 1988. He spent his entire adult life on soaps, landing the role of Jason Quartermaine on General Hospital in 1991. He morphed the character into Jason Morgan in 1995, playing him until 2012.

For the last three years, Burton has played Dylan McAvoy on Y&R, but this week that run comes to a dramatic end.

When Burton says never say never, does that mean he’d entertain thoughts of returning to GH, where Billy Miller now plays Jason? He could always play a Jason lookalike or we could learn Billy Miller’s character is not Jason after all. Or, maybe we’ll even see him as Dylan again one day.

On a soap, anything is possible and with only four soaps left on the air, a return to daytime on the one that made him a household name has decent odds.
