Beyond the Gates had plenty to celebrate at the 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on Friday, October 30. The CBS soap earned four trophies in its very first year of eligibility, including two major acting awards. Meanwhile, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful added to the network’s impressive total, helping CBS and CBS Media Ventures walk away with 10 wins.

Key Takeaways

  • Beyond the Gates earned four Daytime Emmys in its first year of eligibility.
  • Tamara Tunie, Ambyr Michelle, Scott Clifton, Beth Maitland, and Roger Howarth won acting awards.
  • CBS and CBS Media Ventures collected 10 trophies, up from eight in 2025.

Beyond the Gates Proves It Belongs Among Daytime’s Best

It didn’t take long for Beyond the Gates to make its mark on daytime television. The newest CBS soap entered its first Daytime Emmy competition and walked away with four awards, matching the combined total earned by Y&R and B&B in the acting categories and beyond.

Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree) won Outstanding Lead Actress, an especially significant achievement for a show still establishing its place in daytime. Her win came against some of the genre’s most established performers.

Ambyr Michelle (Eva Thomas) also had reason to celebrate. She took home Outstanding Emerging Talent, giving BTG another major acting victory.

The soap’s success extended behind the scenes, too. BTG earned awards for Outstanding Lighting Direction and Outstanding Hairstyling and Makeup. For a series competing against soaps that have been on television for decades, four wins in its debut year certainly made a statement.

Y&R and B&B Veterans Take Home Gold

While BTG celebrated its breakthrough, familiar faces from Genoa City and Los Angeles also had their moments in the spotlight.

Y&R earned three awards, including Outstanding Supporting Actress for Beth Maitland (Traci Abbott) and Outstanding Supporting Actor for Roger Howarth (Matt Clark).

Howarth’s victory was particularly interesting considering his return to daytime as Matt, a character whose complicated history has created plenty of drama for the Newmans.

Meanwhile, B&B’s Scott Clifton (Liam Spencer) won Outstanding Lead Actor, adding another prestigious honor to his daytime career.

Y&R also earned an award for Outstanding Costume Design/Styling for episode 13273.

CBS Celebrates 10 Wins Across Daytime

Altogether, CBS programming earned eight awards across its three soaps, while CBS Media Ventures added two more.

Entertainment Tonight won Outstanding Entertainment News Series, and The Drew Barrymore Show received the award for Outstanding Main Title and Graphic Design. That brought the combined CBS and CBS Media Ventures total to 10, an improvement over the eight trophies earned in 2025.

However, the biggest story for soap fans may be what happened with Beyond the Gates. After just one year of eligibility, the Fairmont Crest drama showed that daytime’s newest soap could compete with the genre’s longest-running favorites.
