Why Ric Lansing Needs To Be Back on General Hospital – Stat

General Hospital knows just when to reintroduce a character that’s been off the canvas so that person will have maximum impact. Case in point: the recent returns of Shawn Butler and Spencer Cassadine have been organic and have energized storylines. So, we’re wondering when Ric Lansing, half-brother to the “late” Sonny Corinthos, played by Rick Hearst will show up once more.

General Hospital Scoundrel Extraordinaire

We last saw Ric Lansing just over five years ago. He failed to reconnect with ex-wife Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst), who had fallen for Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth), and he left the canvas after blowing up Nina Reeves’s relationship with her mother in a power grab to get her family fortune. However, now is a perfect time for him to come back to Port Charles and check in with the people he cares about.

For starters, there’s been a lot of talk about Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig) recently. It was Ric who first brought Hayden to town hoping to drive a wedge between Drew Cain (then known as Jake Doe) and Elizabeth. Ric had Hayden pose as Drew’s ex but when all that was revealed as a ruse, Elizabeth dumped Ric. If Hayden’s coming back, wouldn’t now be an interesting time for her former partner-in-crime to return too?

Ric Lansing Loves His Daughter Molly Lansing-Davis

Ric should want to visit his daughter Molly Lansing-Davis (Haley Pullos). He’d be proud that she’s following in his footsteps as a lawyer. Sure, Molly is super self-sufficient and has TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) to lean on but as Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) is currently incarcerated, it might be time for Ric to visit his daughter so he can see for himself that she’s okay.

Ric and Sonny (Maurice Benard) have a long, complicated history, but they are related by blood. Surely, Ric has heard that Sonny has died. Why hasn’t he popped up to give his condolences or see if there’s any way he might be able to benefit from his brother’s passing? We know General Hospital is going to come up with a surprising way to reveal that Sonny’s actually alive and living as “Mike” in Nixon Falls. Perhaps Ric could pass through the town and spy his sibling among the land of the living?

GH’s Ric + Gladys Corbin = Big Trouble

Ric’s always looking to position himself to come out on top. If he were to come back to Port Charles to get the lay of the land, who better for him to cozy up to than Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs)? Ric would consider gossipy, nosy Gladys a gold mine if he wanted to find someone he could pump for information about what’s going on with Sonny’s business.

Hearst is a three-time Daytime Emmy-winner and two of the statuettes he’s won have been for playing Ric. He’s one of daytime’s most respected actors. We’re hopeful that GH will bring him back and now seems like it’d be a perfect time for that to happen.
