For months, Sidwell has been the guy holding all the cards on General Hospital. He killed Professor Dalton, blackmailed Laura, manipulated Sonny, covered his tracks, and somehow managed to stay three steps ahead of almost everyone who has tried to stop him. Things finally changed. Thanks to a scheme involving Laura, Sonny, and Lucas, Sidwell will soon find himself reacting rather than controlling the action. More importantly, the people coming after him may have finally found the one thing he’s struggled to handle: a coordinated effort.

Key Takeaways

  • Sidwell’s enemies finally started working together instead of fighting separate battles.
  • Lucas’ information about Pascal helped turn the pressure back onto Sidwell.
  • Pascal’s flight from Wyndemere showed the plan was already having an effect.
  • Laura is no longer focused on surviving Sidwell and is now looking to bring him down.
  • For the first time in months, Sidwell may be the one looking over his shoulder.

Sidwell’s Biggest Advantage Is Disappearing

One of Sidwell’s (Carlo Rota) greatest strengths has been keeping his enemies isolated from one another. Laura (Genie Francis) was busy dealing with blackmail. Sonny (Maurice Benard) was trying to protect himself and his family. Lucas (Van Hansis) was chasing answers about Marco’s (Adrian Anchondo) death. Each of them had pieces of the puzzle, but as long as those pieces stayed separate, Sidwell remained one step ahead.

That’s what made Lucas’ decision to come forward so important. Once he shared what he knew about Pascal (Marc Forget) and Marco’s murder, the information stopped living in separate corners of Port Charles. Suddenly, Laura, Sonny, and the PCPD were all looking at pieces of the same puzzle. Sidwell was no longer dealing with isolated threats, and their play against him preyed upon his obsession with finding his son’s killer.

The plan itself was surprisingly effective: Lucas planted the seed by blaming Pascal for the murder, causing the police to go to Wyndemere to question the butler. Before long, Pascal was running for his life. It wasn’t a knockout blow, but it accomplished something just as valuable. For the first time in months, Sidwell looked rattled.

Laura Is No Longer Playing Defense

The photos and negatives Lucas recovered were important because they removed one of Sidwell’s most valuable weapons. As long as he possessed evidence connecting Sonny and Laura to Dalton’s (Daniel Goddard) death, he maintained leverage over both of them. Once that evidence went up in flames, the balance shifted.

Laura stopped talking about surviving Sidwell and started talking about bringing him down. That’s a major change. For months, she has been forced to respond to his demands. Now she’s openly discussing using her political resources against him and looking for ways to expose whatever operation he’s running.

Fearing for his life and accepting Sonny’s deal for money and safe passage out of the country in exchange for intel, Pascal explained that Sidwell’s safe contained the answers they were looking for. The fact that Lucas immediately headed back to Wyndemere to retrieve them shows the lengths the good guys are willing to go to defeat the nefarious cadre

That doesn’t mean Sidwell is finished. Far from it. He’s still dangerous, still connected, and still capable of making life miserable for anyone who gets in his way. But for the first time in a long time, it feels like he’s the one being forced to look over his shoulder. And that’s not a position Sidwell has had to occupy very often.
