The irrepressible Maxie is finally back on General Hospital (GH), and fans couldn’t be happier.
After a four-month break from the soap to tend to personal issues, Kirsten Storms made a surprise reappearance in July. Although Maxie scenes have been sporadic since then, the character is due back on the canvas full-time soon.
That’s good news for GH fans who love the fireball fashionista and the actress who plays her. Here are four reasons why Kirsten Storms had to return as Maxie.
We Are Family
The minute Maxie walks into the scene — Storms’ Maxie, that is — the Scorpio clan suddenly comes together.
Remember that episode in late July at The Floating Rib where Nathan (Ryan Paevey), Felicia (Kristina Wagner), and Mac (John J. York) were all hovering around Maxie, when Anna (Finola Hughes) arrived, rushed over and gave her a big welcome back hug?
Soon, they were all talking about Robin (Kimberly McCullough) being in labor and toasting to their family getting bigger.
Her Man… Landers
Nathan’s world was tossed upside down, when Maxie left for Portland to visit Georgie and decided she was staying put – right after they’d exchanged “I Do’s.” He went from happy groom to Mr. Lonely Hearts.
While Amy livened things up by getting him involved in her “Ask Man Landers” scheme, there’s been something seriously lacking in the storyline. Namely, Maxie.
Now that she’s back and hellbent on uncovering the mystery advice columnist’s identity, with cyber sleuth Spinelli’s (Bradford Anderson) help, things are finally getting interesting.
Lulu Lacking
Throughout Lulu’s (Emme Rylan) long string of problems with Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and her daughter Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez), there’s been one thing conspicuously missing: her good pal Maxie’s support.
Rylan and Storms, who have taken their BFF act off camera, have developed into the soap world’s best besties. And that’s largely because of their real-life relationship. They’ve got each other’s back, onscreen and off, and it reflects in their work.
Crimson Calling
The Crimson magazine office hasn’t been the same without Maxie’s passion for fashion and unbridled energy.
Sure, Nina (Michelle Stafford) can try to run the business with new assistant Nelle’s (Chloe Lanier) help, but the staff is seriously lacking the fire Storms delivers as Maxie. It’s time she rejoined the staff and infused it with her special brand of vivacity.
