They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this suited-up little gentleman grew up to be?
Obviously, this young man (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.
So try these on for size. He is a native of Canada. He has an extensive dance background. He dreamed of becoming an athlete. He began his career as a child actor. He has an affinity for horror and science fiction material. And he had a lead role in a teen dramedy.
But just who can he be? Is this a photograph of Drew Tyler Bell (ex-Thomas Forrester, B&B), Paul Telfer (Xander Cook, DAYS), Dominic Zamprogna (Dante Falconeri, GH), or Jason Thompson (Billy Abbott, Y&R)?
Bell has been trained in several styles of dance, and he is accomplished at ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and tap. He’s appeared in feature films such as Jeepers Creepers 2 and The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising. And he is a fan of recreational activities like soccer, basketball, and baseball. However, he was born in Indiana and raised in Ohio and he didn’t begin acting until he was 15 years old. So, Bell isn’t today’s featured actor.
Telfer rose to prominence thanks to his turn as the titular Hercules in NBC’s prestigious miniseries (2005), and he’s gone on to star in the likes of The Vampire Diaries (2012-2013), Once Upon a Time (2015), and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (2019). But he’s a Scotsman, and his career began when he was 23. So Telfer isn’t the answer to today’s identity query.
And neither is Thompson. Despite being of Canadian origin and a cast member in projects like Wishmaster 4: The Prophecy (2002) and Circle (2010), Thompson didn’t begin working as a professional actor until well into his teens, and this Daytime Emmy winner wasn’t a leading man in a teen dramedy.
Ontario native Zamprogna learned the art of dance, and gained an appreciation for acting, thanks to his parents, who owned and operated a dance studio and taught budding thespians. As a child, Zamprogna appeared in the film F/X2 (which served as his professional debut in 1991).
He subsequently appeared in the likes of Are You Afraid of the Dark (where he played a werewolf), Stargate Atlantis (2004), Battlestar Galactica (2004-2006), Supernatural (2006), Bionic Woman (2007), and Smallville (2009). Between 2001 and 2005, he had a lead role in the Dawson’s Creek-esque series, Edgemont.
So, if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Dominic Zamprogna, then you were absolutely correct!
