Who Did This Out-of-This-World Young Man Grow Up To Play On Soaps?

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps but can you guess who this sideburned mini gentleman grew up to be?

Star Of The Soaps

Now, obviously this young man (now all grown up) is currently starring on one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.

So try these on for size. He began his career at the age of 11 and his association with the channel he currently appears on began at the exact same time. He is also an All My Children alum, a voice-over artist, and a singer/songwriter with one album in his discography – a fact that would no doubt make his father, who served as one half of a popular musical duo very proud.

But just who can he be? Is this a photograph of Thorsten Kaye (Ridge Forrester, BB), Eric Martsolf (Brady Black, DAYS), James Patrick Stuart (Valentin, GH), or Joshua Morrow (Nicholas Newman, YR)?

Thorsten Kaye

Though he did indeed star in All My Children – where he played Zach Slater, an anti-hero that many of the soap’s female characters flocked to – published poet and soap hopper Kaye (whose roles also include Patrick Thornhart on One Life to Live and Dr. Ian Thornhart on Port Charles) is not today’s featured actor.

Eric Martsolf

Sure, Martsolf is a talented singer with one eponymous album (and a few other singles) to his credit. And yes, he has been associated with NBC for nearly two decades – ever since his 2002 debut as Passions second Ethan Crane. But he isn’t today’s mystery pre-teen.

Joshua Morrow

Morrow, who was a member of 3Deep (the POP/R&B boy band who released two albums, Yes Yes Yes…No No No and Can’t Get Over You), was 20 when he began his tenure as YR’s resident heartthrob Nicholas Christian Newman. But like Kaye and Martsolf, he isn’t the boy in question.

James Patrick Stuart

He played All My Children’s repugnant Will Cortlandt between 1989 and 1992, but according to Stuart, his association with ABC  – where he has played Valentin Cassadine since July 8, 2016 – goes even further back.

Accompanying the picture situated above, which was shared by the actor on his Instagram account, was the following message. “Dr. Zee on ABC’s Galactica 1980. I was 11 years old. ABC has been good to me.”

Upon the cancellation of that program, Stuart went on to appear in a plethora of primetime series as well as feature films like Pretty Woman and Gettysburg.

He has worked as a voice-over artist since 2003, lending his pipes to both animated series and video games. In 2019, he released his first album, The Apple Tree. One year previous, he had taken to a stage in Santa Monica and sang a medley of songs originally performed by his father, Chad Stuart, of Chad and Jeremy fame.

So if you thought that perhaps James Patrick Stuart was the answer to today’s identity query, then you were absolutely correct!
