The Ultimate Port Charles Wedding of the Season

General Hospital can boast of having aired the most watched wedding of all time when Luke and Laura got married on November 17, 1981, and 30 million viewers tuned in to see it live (you didn’t have much choice back then, no one was going to put up highlights on YouTube).

Thirty-five years later, weddings are still a big event in Port Charles. Soap Hub asked which was your favorite of the most recent nuptials, and almost 5,000 fans weighed in!

The Groom Wore a New Face
It was just a typical soap-opera remarriage. Same bride, same groom, new face…. The first time Sam (Kelly Monaco) married Jason (Steve Burton), both the bride and groom wore black T-shirts (the groom did not seem to own any other colors), and the reception was heavy on the Chinese food.

Mostly because the wedding itself took place in a Chinese restaurant. The second time Sam married Jason, the bride wore white (better late than never), and the groom had upgraded to a black, long-sleeved shirt… and a new face (Billy Miller). For 67% of fans, that made it the 2016 wedding to beat!

Coincidentally, for Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) and Lulu’s (Emme Rylan) November wedding (only a few weeks off from what would have been Lulu’s parents’ anniversary, if anyone on soaps knew what it meant to honor a vow), the bride also wore a different face.

Except, unlike with Jason, nobody seemed to notice. Of course, the happy couple has a lot more to worry about these days, what with fully-hatched embryos popping up all over the place in the form of children conceived before their parents met.

Nevertheless, for 18% of viewers, it was a lovely wedding.

What Hell Hath Joined Together
Speaking of oddly hatched embryos, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) and Nina (Michelle Stafford) exchanged vows primarily so they could get custody of said ill-conceived child.

And since Maxie (Kirsten Storms) and Nathan (Ryan Paevey) weren’t going to be using their wedding, why not swoop in and hijack it? Sure, it’s last minute and sketchy, but good enough for 15% of you!
