Urgent Plea To General Hospital: Let Sam Save Herself

Sam McCall has been pretty badass ever since she first stepped foot in Port Charles over 15 years ago — when actress Kelly Monaco joined General Hospital and created an incredibly compelling and flawed heroine whom we all root for to come out on top. So, why is it Shiloh always seems to best her?

He’s not a supervillain. He’s not super at all. And yet Shiloh (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) has managed to almost rape her and now has locked Sam up in a freezer, leaving her to die unless her true love Jason (Steve Burton) bends to his will and lets him use him as a human-computer to spit out the location of money from Drew’s (Billy Miller) memories.

Seriously? Oh, come the heck on! It was bad enough that Jason had to save the day and stop Shiloh from raping Sam (in a dumb setup she should have known better than to try and so should have Jason), but now she is in jeopardy again by this same inept dude?

Sam is better than this. Sam should be capable of rescuing herself and not just be used as a plot device — the damsel in distress — all the time so simply so that Jason gets to play the hero. Cause now that he’s around, we know that no one else is allowed to be a hero.

It’d be great to see Sam save herself and maybe get her own revenge against the likes of Shiloh, who she should be able to handle in her sleep with one hand tied behind her back. OK, so she has both hands tied in front of her now — at least she managed to remove the tape from her mouth.

But really — we all know Sam is capable of handling herself and kicking all kinds of butt. Seeing her suffer at Shiloh’s hands not once but twice can only be redeemed by watching her be the one to take him down.

So please, GH, pretty please — let her be the one to end this horrible nightmare? General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
