Three’s a Crowd: Does Carly Belong in General Hospital’s Kevin/Ryan Story?

There is an unwritten law on General Hospital: Any storyline that Sonny (Maurice Benard) isn’t sticking his nose into, Carly (Laura Wright) has to.

It’s in full play now, as Carly is somehow at the center of the Kevin/Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) switch-a-roo. Not Kevin’s wife, Laura (Genie Francis). Not Kevin’s ex-wife, Lucy (Lynn Herring). Not Felicia (Kristina Wagner), the target of Ryan’s once-upon-a-time obsession. Carly.

But should she be? Here’s what almost 8,000 fans had to say.

All About Carly
Of course, Carly should be front and center, 82% cheer, Carly is GH’s leading lady and she should have a say about every single storyline. It was Carly playing Morse code sing-a-long at the mental hospital that first cued viewers in about Ryan being in the next room, which is what lead to his switching places with Kevin.

If it wasn’t for Carly, this story might have never happened, so we should be grateful to have her! Besides, we know Carly will be the one to crack this plot wide open. We can’t sit around, twiddling our thumbs, waiting for the Port Charles Police Department to buy a clue!

If they can’t get Sonny into prison with all the available evidence, what chance do those dolts have against Ryan?

And why, exactly, did we need Carly to jump-start a story that has nothing to do with her, 18% are scratching their heads in confusion. Doesn’t she have enough to do?

Why not check in on a still mourning Michael (Chad Duell)? Or try to reign in wild child Joss (Eden McCoy)? Isn’t her dance card full with keeping Avery away from Ava (Maura West), and telling Jason (Steve Burton) and Sam (Kelly Monaco) how they should feel? Can’t we have one Carly-free story? Maybe if we told her this via Morse code…
