Réal Andrews General Hospital
The General Hospital ‘next-on’ had fans talking on Thursday when suddenly Sonny Corinthos was seen talking to his old arch-enemy, former police detective Marcus Taggert, once again played by Real Andrews.
Where did this come from and how did it happen? It was a shock to the system and a blast from the past that we can’t wait to see play out in Port Charles on Friday and in the coming days and weeks.
It feels like just yesterday Taggert was hauling Jason down to the PCPD as many times as he could just to call him Anger Boy and we need to see that happen again, although Jason is not quite a boy anymore.
Meanwhile, actor Real Andrews has made sure to keep up and remain friends with Maurice Benard who plays Sonny. Both Benard and Andrews couldn’t wait to take to Twitter last night to express their joy with Taggert being back on the scene.
It’s clear Andrews couldn’t be happier and neither could his fans, as he spent Thursday evening responding to excited, longtime GH aficionados welcoming him back.

Benard posted a photo of his friend, along with this tweet. “@realandrews He’s Back!!! Bigger and better than ever. On General Hospital. You don’t want to miss it.”
This is a comeback in many ways for the actor, who was last seen on daytime as Hal Michaels on Days of Our Lives back in 2016 and 2017. He has also appeared on defunct soaps, Santa Barbara, As the World Turns, and All My Children.
During his time away from soaps, Andrews revealed his struggle with bipolar disorder, something he shares with Benard. And, in December, he underwent surgery for prostate cancer and kept an amazingly positive attitude on the big day.
Many fans hope Taggert’s younger sister, Gia, follows. As many recall, she had an affair with Nikolas back in the early 2000s, so wouldn’t it be amazing if she turns out to be Trina’s (Sydney Mikayla) mother and Nikolas her father. That could be a very good reason for the writers deciding to put the teen in Ava’s orbit. Stay tuned and find out.
