The Case For Valentin And Nina On General Hospital

When Nina told Valentin to quiet up with his lies on Thursday’s General Hospital and then turned to Jax and CARLY for truth, we at Soap Hub had enough.

Nina (Cynthia Watros) is right. Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) lied to her and lied to her big when he hired Sasha (Sofia Mattsson) to be her daughter after he came up short in locating her real daughter.

He had altruistic reasons, and also selfish reasons. He wanted to make her happy, but he wanted to be the one who made her happy with her long-lost child so she’d remarry him. And we were thrilled when she let him have it TWICE at two different attempts at marriage. Bravo, Nina.

Oh, but Nina, you did some terrible things too. Yes, it was described as a psychotic break, but you did literally rip Avery from Ava’s (Maura West) womb and then kidnapped her, naming her Jaime Sommers and then trying to create a life as her mother. Yes, Ava once had an affair with your husband decades earlier, but now you and Ava are best friends, so forgiveness happens and maybe it’s time to forgive Valentin.

At this point, Valentin is really attempting to do the right thing for everyone. He’s Alexis’s (Nancy Lee Grahn) sounding board, he’s trying to help Martin (Michael E. Knight) find his mother after CARLY had her kidnapped, and he really wants Nina to find her actual daughter this time around. But it’s Jax (Ingo Rademacher) and CARLY (Laura Wright) who are keeping her from doing that.

And what does Jax really do for Nina? He doesn’t serenade her with love songs (something Valentin does with finesse). He doesn’t tell her the truth. He tries to keep her from finding her daughter. And, he runs to CARLY every time she says boo. Really Nina? You’re going to trust these two? The two who you will hopefully soon learn has been keeping the identity of your daughter from you because THEY FEEL LIKE IT? Good luck.

Valentin loves Nina and we think he is learning how to truly love at this point in his life. Maybe it’s time to give him another chance and make sure wherever the two of you choose to live, there’s a grand piano so he can sing his heart out every night by the fire.
