Ever since Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt came out of the woods and landed in GH spoilers, fans have been wondering what he was really after. Once he revealed that he was the son of Jimmy Lee Holt, Edward Quartermaine’s (first) illegitimate offspring, the picture became a bit clearer.
Austin wants his fair share of ELQ. But is that all the good country doctor is really after? Almost 3,000 viewers have a trio of alternative theories:
After looking at the GH spoilers it was a close vote, as only 40% of you managed to squeak out a win on the theory that Austin doesn’t just want his piece of the pie. He wants the whole dessert. Austin must have resented growing up picking green vegetables instead of rolling around in beds of green money (that’s what rich people do, right?).
And now is his chance, since almost all of Alan Quartermaine’s (except Jason Morgan) children are dead – and Tracy Quartermaine’s (Jane Elliot) are…Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) and Dillon, who wants to be a Hollywood director, not a Port Charles businessman. He feels it’s his chance to take over – and Austin (Roger Howarth) is not throwing away his shot.
It was a slightly smaller 33% of the audience who predict that Austin isn’t so much interested in the money as he is in finally having a family. From what we remember of his mom, Charity, she was a widow with a young son – and not much else.
Jimmy Lee (Steve Bond) was estranged from his biological family, and his birth mother was dead (Edward was, at one point, suspected of killing her; she was a piece of work). So it makes sense that Austin would be excited about getting to know his kin-folks (that’s what country people say, right?).
In last place are the 27% who remember how badly Jimmy Lee was treated by Alan (Stuart Damon), Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson), and the rest, and are sure that Austin is here to get justice for his daddy!
