General Hospital spoilers for June 29-July 3, 2020 reveal a special week dedicated to Port Charles’s most prolific father— Sonny Corinthos.
Though they missed Fathers Day by one week, GH is making up for the oversight by offering five episodes featuring Sonny (Maurice Benard) and various interactions with his large brood – which includes biological children Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), Kristina (Lexi Ainsworth), Morgan (Bryan Craig), and Avery (Ava and Grace Scarola), as well as adoptive son Michael (Chad Duell).
On Monday, June 29, there’s a flashback to the winter of 2010 when Sonny committed one of his most heinous and cold-blooded acts: shooting Dante point-blank in the chest after discovering that he was an undercover cop. Seconds later, he would also discover that the man he had just severely wounded was his own son!
Sonny’s stubborn, hypocritical side is on full display in the episode airing Tuesday, June 30. In it, Sonny agrees to join Kristina in a therapy session in order to understand why she had remained in an abusive relationship with Kiefer Bauer.
But when Kristina proffers that Sonny himself subjected Claudia Zacchara (Sarah Joy Brown) to emotional abuse during their marriage, he refuses to listen to the charge, let alone take responsibility for his actions.
Wednesday’s episode returns the action to Fall 2014 and finds Sonny staring down the barrel of gun… and it’s his beloved Michael who’s holding the weapon! Turns out, Michael is none too pleased that Sonny murdered his biological father, AJ Quartermaine (Sean Kanan) in cold blood and he is out for vengeance.
But Sonny’s trespass is forgiven and forgotten by Thursday, July 2. In the episode airing on that day, Michael returns Avery, the child that he fought to obtain custody of, to his “father” and he even offers an apology for his recent behavior.
The week wraps with an episode from February 2016 which finds Sonny playing rescuer to a despondent Morgan, who has climbed out onto the ledge of the General Hospital roof! General Hospital airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
