General Hospital spoilers for January 18, 2024, feature characters either attempting to communicate, comparing emotional scars, or seeking help from the most unexpected of people. There may even be a surprise or two. You don’t want to miss this episode.
Get ready for an unexpected convergence of two people who’ve had a super tough time this last year. It’s been a while since Drew (Cameron Mathison, who shared an important health update here) and Anna (Finola Hughes) interacted. What brings them together? If they’re commiserating, like teasers suggest, they’re bound to compare notes on the multiple emotional scars they’ve each recently collected.
For Drew, it’s the story of a guy who made a sacrifice for the woman he loves. This led to prison, a beatdown behind bars, and an off-putting personality change. Meanwhile, Anna’s had one setback after another. She’s been stalked, shot a teenager, lost her home, lost her love, and recently lost a good friend. So, these two have a lot to bond over.
While Drew and Anna commiserate, a solo Michael (Chad Duell) prepares himself. For what? To talk to Nina (Cynthia Watros)? To tell Wiley (Viron Weaver) Nina’s out of their lives again? Engage in a tug-o-war for ELQ? Figure out how to get his wife to trust him again. Face his mother? Seems like psyching himself up for whatever’s to come may be harder than Michael thinks.
Esme’s (Avery Kristen Pohl) panicked, desperate, and has all of her memories back. Her world now boils down to two things. Okay, three things. First, getting Ace (Joey and Jay Clay) back. Second, preventing Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) from going to Paris with Trina (Tabyana Ali). And third, getting revenge. So who’s the unlikely source that helps her out with any or all of these plans?

Elsewhere, TJ (Tajh Bellow) fills in some blanks with his mom. When he updates Jordan (Tanisha Harper), he can tell her about Curtis’s (Donnell Turner) progress now that he’s post-surgery. He could tell her — if Laura (Genie Francis) hasn’t yet — how Molly (Kristen Vaganos) helped make a deal happen that caused Esme to walk with probation. Oh, and he can let his mom know where he and his wife are in their surrogacy journey.
Finally, Kristina (Kate Mansi) has a surprise visitor. Surely, Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) wouldn’t be considered a surprise, would she? After all, it’s been a while since these two connected. Absence may make the heart grow fonder. But it’s also wise not to let that absence go on too long.
