After a long absence, Spencer Cassadine is finally back home to stay on General Hospital, and the timing couldn’t be more perfect. With his childhood pals, Cameron Webber and Josslyn Jacks, now all grown up and headed to college, there will be plenty of teen angst and drama to explore, and the clever quick-witted Cassadine heir deserves to be a big part of it.
General Hospital Missing Link
Ever since Ashton Arbab was killed off as Dev, the show’s been in need of a male teenager to round out the teen trio of Cameron (William Lipton), Jossyln (Eden McCoy), and her bestie, Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikalya). Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) not only fits the bill but also has lots of history with Cameron and Josslyn. They all grew up together in Port Charles, and, as kids, Cameron and Spencer were romantic rivals for the affections of young Emma Drake (Brooklyn Rae Silzer).
GH: Revving Things Up
Now that they’re teenagers, Spencer and Cameron could easily revive their competitive friendship with Josslyn at the center. Or perhaps Emma could come back to town and invoke a new quadrangle. Or maybe Trina could shake things up as Spencer finds himself drawn to her fiery independent personality, while she’s put off by his shady machinations. There are plenty of possibilities for angst and drama.
General Hospital — Making A Difference
What makes Spencer an important part of GH’s rapidly progressing teen scene is that he’s the unpredictable wild card in the group. While Josslyn, Cameron, Trina, and even the missing Emma are all good kids, Spencer’s always had a conniving, uncontrollable streak. Remember, he once faked his own kidnapping with Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), asked Sonny (Maurice Benard) to kill Valentin (James Patrick Stuart), and tampered with election machines.
And, as he’s gotten older, Spencer’s penchant for dubious deeds has only escalated. Heck, he returned to town terrorizing and stalking Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West). All of the above makes him the character most likely to stir the pot and keep things interesting and the soap’s teen storyline moving forward, and that’s going to be fun to watch.
General Hospital (GH) airs weekdays on ABC. Check your local listings for airtimes. For more about what’s coming up in Port Charles, check out all the latest that’s been posted on GH spoilers.
