Somehow General Hospital Botched Jason’s Return

It started out with so much promise. The pace was at breakneck speed, the performances were amazing, and we believed there was an underlying story that would blow our minds. Also, let’s not forget an epic triangle to boot, so what the heck happened, General Hospital (GH)?

We still don’t know if Jason was really drugged in a Russian clinic for five whole years or if that was only part of his journey during that missing time. We still have no idea about Drew’s past except that he got Kim pregnant and then was deployed as a Navy SEAL.

And nobody is fighting over Sam or for Sam (Kelly Monaco) because…well, we don’t know why. We’re not sure if Sam knows why either. And we’re also not sure why she’s decided she doesn’t want to be with either one of her Jasons.

Let’s go back to 2012. Jason and Sam finally reunited and brought Danny home to be a family. An hour later, Jason was called away, shot, thrown in the river and we finally saw him again in Russia last fall.

Of course, we also thought we had him back since 2014, and so did Sam. She was living her life with one Jason, picking up where they left off, and then the real deal returned. And now, she’s busy breaking into Wyndemere with Curtis because…yeah, it’s just not working.

Jason has not evolved at all in five years, much less 20. He’s still cleaning up Carly’s messes. Sam is free, no more Drew. He COULD fight for her and could have since he returned. But nope, he has to do Carly’s bidding.

He has a casual night with Sam playing pool, but why ask how Sam is doing–you know, the love of his life who he couldn’t wait to get back to. Instead, he had to talk about Carly. And give Sam a story we are positive she heard before.

And Drew? It took him months to even care about getting his memories back and we thought something would happen as he begged Andre for weeks to wipe Jason’s memories from his brain.

Then, sorry, false alarm–he changed his mind. He also forgot he has a daughter so he could play house with the son he never knew he had with a mother he can’t remember.

Yeah, this is all so…snore. Yes, it’s BORING. And, it’s dragging. And it makes VERY little sense.

GH had such an opportunity here with Steve Burton returning to a role that Billy Miller had made his own. Somehow, the show botched it and that is the only thing about this debacle that truly blows our minds.
