Reports have surfaced that former General Hospital and Days of our Lives star Tyler Christopher has been arrested for public intoxication. Now, former coworkers are reaching out with words of support — and recommending caution when reporting such unfortunate cases.
Tyler Christopher Struggles
TMZ was among the sites reporting on Christopher’s status. Perhaps in an attempt to soften the bad publicity the actor’s receiving, the report read that he was out having too much ‘birthday fun.’ The actor’s former GH co-star and TV aunt, Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis), is now speaking out on the matter, taking exception to the phrasing.
“I say this with love,” Grahn tweeted to TMZ, “but I can assure you that Tyler wasn’t out having ‘birthday fun’. He has a horrible disease. Tyler is at risk of losing his life if he doesn’t get help, maintain treatment & work a program and there’s nothing fun about it. He needs help not exposure.”
Loving Words of Support
A follower of Grahn’s tweeted that the site was capitalizing on Christopher’s misfortune, but Grahn is keeping an open mind, saying, they’re “capable of kindness. They just didn’t know. Now they do.”
Former DAYS co-star Greg Vaughan (Eric), who also played his half-brother Lucky on GH, reached out via Twitter saying, “Regardless of any news or opinions, like myself, I ask you to respectfully offer nothing but our deepest loving prayers, and continuous courage & support to our friend Tyler Christopher & his family! ❤️🙏🏻”
Reaching Out With Kindness
Michele Val Jean, who is a writer on the primetime soap Ambitions as well as The Bold and the Beautiful, used to write for Christopher when she worked on GH. She too had words for her former coworker. “I’m saddened to hear about #TylerChristopher. A sweet guy with a massive problem. I hope he gets the help he needs and it sticks.”
Christopher became an instant hit when he made his daytime debut in 1996 as Nikolas Cassadine on GH. He played the part on and off for years, winning the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2016. He left GH later that year. In early 2018, he joined the cast of Days of Our Lives as Stefan O. DiMera. Earlier this year, Christopher was recast with Brandon Barash.
Soap Hub joins Tyler Christopher’s former coworkers and supporters in hoping he gets the help he needs.
