The Nielsen soap ratings for the week ending August 7 are out and both General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful have something to celebrate. BB wrapped up its third week of new episodes and GH completed its first week of new episodes.

According to the ratings, in the coveted Women 18-49 demographic, GH came in first place with a .38 rating. Days of Our Lives came in second place with .34. BB scored a .31. The Young and the Restless, which was still airing classic episodes, came in fourth place with a .21.

In Households, BB came in first place again with a 1.66. GH was second with 1.42. YR earned 1.37. And DAYS came in fourth place with 1.29. Next week’s ratings will reflect the numbers with all four soaps airing original episodes.

Interestingly, soaps hung on to a few pre-COVID-19 taped episodes to air upon their returns from hiatus. Meanwhile, DAYS continues to air new episodes and will until sometime in October. The NBC serial is set to return to the Burbank studios to tape new episodes on or around Tuesday, September 1.

What stories are captivating viewers currently? BB is playing out the reveal that Ridge (Thorsten Kaye) not only divorced Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) during his sojourn to Las Vegas but he married Shauna (Denise Richards)! On GH, the action picked up with Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) ingratiating himself into Port Charles society as the custody battle for Wiley (Erik and Theo Olson) plays out.

DAYS showed the reunion of Xander (Paul Telfer) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) along with Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) return to Salem. Last week, YR re-aired shocking moments including Adam (then Justin Hartley; now, Mark Grossman) being blown to smithereens (or so it seemed), Lily (Christel Khalil) finding out Malcolm (Shemar Moore) — not Neil (the late Kristoff St. John) — is her dad, and Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) holding Lauren (Tracey Bregman) and her mother Molly (Marilyn Alex) hostage!
