Soap opera veteran Vincent Irizarry revealed that he lost someone close to him recently. The Daytime-Emmy-winner paid a loving tribute to his young relative.
Vincent Irizarry Suffers Loss
“My beautiful cousin in body and spirit, Lauren Irizarry, left us over a month ago, leaving all of us in our family, along with her great many dear friends who love her, heartbroken by the sudden loss,” Irizarry posted to Instagram. “She’s being celebrated tomorrow in Brooklyn by those same friends and family who will forever love and miss her.
“My sorrow is compounded by the fact that I can’t be there personally to celebrate her life and mourn her loss with my uncle Johnny, whose been the equivalent of a third brother to me throughout our lives as a family, and with my daughter, Siena, who loved Lauren like another sister throughout their years together in Brooklyn, due to NY travel restrictions,” the actor added.
“Though I’m so grateful to have been able to spend time with her last Sept while visiting my Siena in Brooklyn, I can’t help but grieve the unshakable reality that it will forever be the last moment I will look upon her beautiful face… RIP our beloved Lauren… #forevermissed #foreverloved #38yearstooyoung #familyforever.”
Irizarry exploded onto the daytime scene in 1984 as Lujack on Guiding Light, in what was supposed to be a short-term role. He scored a Daytime Emmy nomination in the category of Outstanding Younger Leading Actor for his portrayal, amassing a legion of fans.
Following that success, he went on to play Scott on Santa Barbara, then returned to Springfield to play Lujack’s twin brother Nick. Next came runs on All My Children as David, the role that won the actor Daytime Emmy gold in 2009 in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor.
He played a different David on The Young and the Restless, Deimos Kiriakis on Days of our Lives, and Doctor Jordan Armstrong on The Bold and the Beautiful. Soap Hub extends sincere condolences to Vincent Irizarry and his family.
