With Steve Burton returning to General Hospital (GH), possibly as the real Jason, Sam will find herself a wife in the middle of two husbands.
Although she desperately loves both of them, Sam (Kelly Monaco) will ultimately have to make a choice between Burton’s original Jason and Billy Miller’s version of the character. Here are some very strong reasons she should pick each of them.
The Case for Steve Burton’s Jason
Burton’s Jason was the man Sam first fell deeply in love with when she was carrying Sonny’s child. He saw her through her pregnancy and claimed to be her baby’s father; ultimately, supporting her through the tragedy of Lila’s death at birth.
Sam and Jason I are still married. The couple exchanged vows in the garden of their favorite Chinese restaurant, The Noodle Buddha, on September 22, 2011. And that union is still valid. Jason I could actually resurface in time to celebrate his sixth wedding anniversary with his wife.
Jason I accepted Sam’s baby Danny as his own, even when he wrongly believed the boy was Franco’s (Roger Howarth) biological son. Before his “death” on the docks, he and Sam recommitted to one another and planned to live happily ever after. Now they’ll get the chance, and he’ll finally learn Danny is his child.
The Case of Billy Miller’s Jason
Resigned to a life without the husband she believed was dead, Sam got a second chance at love when Jake Doe arrived in town. Programmed to kill Sam, Jake couldn’t go through with it. He and Sam eventually uncovered that Helena (Constance Towers) had brainwashed him and that he was actually Jason. The pair fell in love and remarried.
Miller’s Jason has never been drawn to the drama and danger of Sonny’s crime family business. In fact, he wants no part of it, which sits well with Sam. He embodies the safe life Sam craves, now that she’s the mother of two children. Of course, that didn’t stop him from getting shot while acting as Sonny’s (Maurice Benard) backup last week.
Like Jason I, Jason II also shares a child with Sam. He sired her baby daughter Scout. Plus, Danny thinks of him as his real father. Those strong connections will forever endear him to Sam and her children.
