General Hospital’s law enforcement agencies have never been the sharpest knives in the drawer, going all the way back to the late 1980s, when sweet, chubby police chief Burt Ramsey turned out to be underworld leader Mr. Big (We never expected it from a guy who looked like he could be that nice, Dr. Bob’s from As the World Turns brother!)
So, is anyone surprised that the Canadian Mounties have decreed Ryan’s (Jon Lindstrom) case closed, once they found his severed hand? Obviously, he’s dead. No one can live without a hand. (Did they not see Soapdish? You can live without a head!) But, do viewers believe it? What over 11,000 of you had to say:
Talk to the Hand
Uh, that would be a no, a landslide 98% of you voted. It’s a soap. Nobody dies. Morgan (Bryan Craig) isn’t dead, Nathan (Ryan Paevey) isn’t dead, Duke (Ian Buchanan) isn’t dead, and neither is Faison (Aders Hove).
So, why in the world would you think Ryan was dead, especially since Kevin, Felicia (Kristina Wagner), Laura (Genie Francis), and Ava (Maura West) are still around for him to torture.
In fact, you expect the hand to just be an advance army. It can wander around town — Thing-style — taunting future victims until Ryan feels like returning to Port Charles.
Only 2% believe the whole, you can live without a hand scenario. It…uhm…probably got ripped off when Ryan fell down the falls. That happens, right?
Ryan must have been torn to bits. That’s why the hand is the only remnant they managed to find. He will never bother anyone again. Just like the last time he died…
