Sidwell’s deal and legal troubles led to all his assets being put up for sale, and Valentin wanted a piece of that pie. Jordan revealed everything she knew to the Cassadine heir and admitted Sonny (Maurice Benard) had set his sights on getting his piers back.
What’s With The Off-Screen Sidwell Wrap-Up?
For nearly two years, Sidwell ran around Port Charles as if he owned the place. However, unlike villains like Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) or Drew (Cameron Mathison), who are unbearable to watch, Sidwell was entertaining and hilarious.
The way he was taken down by Sonny, Laura (Genie Francis), and Lucas (Van Hansis) didn’t disappoint. In fact, it moved the needle along and finally forced Sidwell to pay for some of his blackmailing ways.
Even Sidwell’s escape and then taking Ava (Maura West), Ethan (Nathan Dean), and Justine (Nazneen Contractor) hostage was good. Sidwell never missed a beat and never gave up fighting.
That’s why sending Sidwell to prison off-screen was a huge misstep because the drama of a trial would have been so entertaining. Imagine all the chaos that would have gone down at the trial.
If GH had planned not to bring Rotta back, the writers could at least have had Sidwell escape. Sidwell agreeing to a plea deal for basically the rest of his life was not only boring but so out of character.
