The GH spoilers recap for Wednesday, June 22, 2022, features the entire town coming together when Laura Collins’a job as mayor looks like it’s on the line.
It turned out the item that was going to appear in The Invader that Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) had to run was a letter to the editor announcing enough names on a petition to recall Laura (Genie Francis) as mayor, citing the horrible ways the “Friends of Port Charles” thinks she runs the town. Her friends gathered in one place to they could plan how to combat this big problem.
For some reason, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) was appointed as someone to smooth things over, so she marched straight into the Q house and accused Ned Quartermaine of going after his old opponent. Ned denied all, but others were on the case.
Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) and Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) managed to get a hold of the petitions and saw a name on them that looked familiar. Laura went to see Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) and confronted her former rival (and sister-in-law) about signing it, but Bobbie said she thought she was signing a petition to save the whales.
Oddly, Scott also found time to propose to Liesl on the new nail salon set with Anna Devane (Anna Devane) and Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) watching. Liesl turned down his proposal and said they are best keeping things the way they are between them.
Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) took it upon themselves to summon Selina Wu (Lydia Look) and see if she knew what was going on. She admitted to donating money to the “Friends of Port Charles” and led them to the person behind the money.
When Curtis told Laura who was funding this operation, she took off to Pentonville to confront her brother. Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) told her all the reasons he felt she was wrong for Port Charles, including letting Sonny and Selina essentially do whatever they want. He asked her when the last time she went to church was while pointing out that PC tax money goes to old institutions rather than the people. Cyrus soon looked like he was going to cry when Laura said she forgave him.
After paying a visit to Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) awkwardly in tow to offer her Deception cosmetics while she’s stuck in Shadybrook, Laura then headed over to Charlie’s to see the crowd after a big softball game.
While we never learned who won the game, we did see everyone cheer on Laura and her plight. We then heard Laura’s rebuttal to the letter as a voiceover from a woman who loves PC and feels the town and its people are like her family.
