The GH recap for Thursday, January 5, 2023, features Heather Webber giving Ryan Chamberlain the lowdown on her fun — and deadly — new hobby.
GH Recap Highlights
In this episode, Ryan (Jon Lindstrom) got Heather (Alley Mills) to admit what she has been up to as Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) wondered how a pregnant teenager could kill a cop and soldier. Also, Felicia Scorpio (Kristina Wagner) told Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) about Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) death, while Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) broke some news and Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) broke down. Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) got herself a new lawyer despite having no idea why she’s being accused of murder, and finally, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) decided to avenge her daughter’s death. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the details.
As soon as Ryan read about the Hook attack the night before, he knew it had to be Heather, so she confessed that, yes, she is killing to save her precious daughter and avenge all her enemies. But how has she been getting out of Spring Ridge to do this? Well, she has a very nice guard who conveniently looks the other way so that she can roam about town on occasion, and she takes that opportunity to kill.

Ryan wanted to know why she’s failed so hard with most of her kills, so she admitted she wasn’t perfect. However, she vowed to get a brand-new hook and attack again whenever her favorite guard returned.
General Hospital Recap: Mourning Britt Westbourne
Heather’s latest handiwork had Port Charles in tears as news of Britt’s death spread. Felicia was tasked with telling a shocked Cody what happened, while Brad and Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) seemed to find out off-screen. That didn’t mean their reaction wasn’t emotional as they wondered why her clothes were emptied out of her hotel room. Nina informed them Britt had Huntington’s Disease and was probably planning on leaving town for good.
Poor Brad couldn’t believe his best friend was gone and wondered how he’d live without her. He didn’t find that true BFF until later in his life and poured out his heart to Maxie and Nina.
Liesl Obrecht got busy cleaning out Britt’s office, but Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) told her that he would take care of things. They then talked about Britt’s plan to leave town and how Austin thought her last week of life was a whirlwind and quite a way to end her time on Earth.
GH Recap: Esme Might Not Be Faking It
The main suspect in Britt’s death, Esme, continued to tell everyone she couldn’t remember everything about herself, but when Kevin Collins (also Jon Lindstrom) walked into her room, she said he looked very familiar. Kevin told her of all the people they had in common, but Esme seemed more confused than ever.
Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) soon arrived and announced he was Esme’s new lawyer as he shocked her by informing her she was being accused of murder. Later, when Esme was sleeping, Elizabeth Webber Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) whispered to her that she’d know if she was faking the memory loss, but when Esme woke, Elizabeth slipped back into character as the girl’s helpful nurse.
At the Port Charles Police Department, Dante questioned Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) about his relationship with Esme but Nikolas kept mum. Dante wondered if Nikolas could be Esme’s accomplice because he couldn’t see her hooking some of these people on his own. Nikolas just scoffed at him and walked out. He then informed Martin he is the one who arranged for a judge to appoint him as Esme’s attorney. Kevin also paid a visit to Dante and told him he didn’t think Esme was faking the amnesia at all.
Finally, a revenge-minded Liesl donned Britt’s doctor’s coat and entered Esme’s room, looking like she was ready to kill.
