GH Recap For January 4: Britt Dies In Her Mother’s Arms

The GH recap for Wednesday, January 4, 2023, features the heartwrenching death of Dr. Britt Westbourne as The Britch will reign no more.

GH Recap Highlights

In this episode, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) realized she was about to die and just wanted her mother’s arms around her. Also, Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl) can’t remember who she is or how she got pregnant, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Ava Jerome (Maura West) bonded and then heard some hard truths, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) and Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) believed they dodged a bullet, and Josslyn Jacks made a difficult move after sleeping with Dex Heller (Evan Hofer). Now, let’s dig a little deeper into the details.

As Britt struggled to breathe, Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) didn’t understand what was going on and became alarmed when her daughter started coughing up blood. She called for an ambulance, but Britt explained that it was too late and she had been poisoned by The Hook. Liesl didn’t know what to do, but Britt just asked her mom to hold her like she couldn’t do when her brother, Nathan West (Ryan Paevey), died. So, that is what Liesl did as she lamented all the times she should have been affectionate with Britt and not cold and angry.

Britt then died in Liesl’s arms before the ambulance arrived. Once she got to GH, she told Scott Baldwin (Kin Shriner) she was all alone now and then went to say goodbye to her daughter one last time.

General Hospital Recap: Esme Doesn’t Remember…Or Does She?

A cold and confused Esme did not understand why Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) kept calling her Miss Prince and later told TJ Ashford (Taje Bellow) that she couldn’t remember her first name. She was also quite stunned to discover she was pregnant and wasn’t sure how it happened.

Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) told Nikolas that he knew the baby was his dad’s but refused to believe Esme really had amnesia. She had to be faking it. Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali) wasn’t so sure and also can’t see how a very pregnant Esme could have been traveling around town hooking people.

Elizabeth absolutely believed that Esme was telling the truth and was quite relieved. She told Nikolas that if Esme wanted to clear her name of The Hook murders, she would tell the world that she was being held hostage in a tower for months.

Laura and Ava spent some girl time talking about Nikolas at Ava’s apartment when Ava got the call from Nik to get to the hospital because Esme was found. When Ava saw a fetal heart monitor being wheeled into Esme’s room, she knew exactly what was going on. Ava then got Nikolas to admit he was the baby’s father before she decked him as a stunned Laura looked on.

GH Recap: Josslyn Does The Grown-Up Thing

After making love with Dex for the first time, Josslyn could barely enjoy the afterglow because she got a text from Cameron Webber (William Lipton) that reminded her she had a whole boyfriend out there whom she was cheating on. Joss knew immediately what she had to do.

Dex kept watch to make sure The Hook didn’t return as Josslyn paid a visit to Cameron at Kelly’s. He was happy to see her until she asked him to sit down because they had to talk. Cameron was stunned as Josslyn explained that they had grown apart, and even that night they had sex didn’t bring back the old feelings she once had.

She didn’t feel a connection with him anymore, and Cam suddenly realized that Joss was breaking up with him. Both college students were in tears as Josslyn begged Cameron to still be her friend. However, Cam was angry and hurt and said he just couldn’t do it. Joss then left and had Dex take her home.
