The GH recap for Tuesday, January 10, 2023, features Willow Tait coming to the conclusion that she might not have handled her cancer correctly.
GH Recap Highlights
In this episode, pregnant dying Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) seemed to have a lightbulb go off in her head, as did Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), who figured out that Carly Spencer is not honest to a fault after all. (Imagine that!) While that happened, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) delivered bad news to Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros). Also, Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) tried to get the truth out of Esme Prince (Avery Kristen Pohl), Jordan Ashford (Tanisha Harper) and Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) searched Wyndemere for signs of Esme, and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) did her best to deflect questions from Laura Collins (Genie Francis) about Esme.
Willow may still have beautiful hair after a round of chemo, but she also still has stage 4 cancer that hasn’t improved and has only gotten worse. As she shared some tender moments with Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Wiley, Willow broke down, realizing that she took a gamble with her life and could very well lose. She had the choice at the start of her pregnancy to put her life and Wiley’s ahead of an embryo, and she didn’t consider Wiley at all, or Michael, for that matter.

Instead, she hid the truth from Michael and didn’t think about the fact that Wiley could end up without a mother. Now, she is closer to death than ever before and might not be there for her daughter. She asked Michael how he could ever forgive her for what she did, and Michael said it was because he would love her forever.
Meanwhile, Nina was horrified when Sonny showed her the medical records he found with Britt Westbourne’s (Kelly Thiebaud) stuff. She learned Willow has cancer and waited months to start treatment. Nina immediately knew Willow made a choice for her baby, but wrongly assumed Michael convinced her to do it. To that end, she rushed over to the Q gatehouse to confront Michael.
General Hospital Recap: Drew Confronts Big Liar Carly
Out of nowhere, it hit Drew that Carly has been actively trying to get him not to search for Willow’s birth family because she didn’t want Willow to find them. Carly admitted that was true and said it was because she made the decision that Willow didn’t need that stress in her life while pregnant, despite Willow wanting to find them. She even confessed that she sabotaged Drew’s search and paid off Denise McKenzie.
Drew finally blurted out that Willow has cancer and that is why she is so desperate to learn where she came from. Carly was stunned, but Willow looking like death warmed over for the better part of a year, finally made some sense. When Carly learned Willow needs a bone marrow transplant, it finally hit her that she couldn’t play God anymore, so she told Drew to call off his search because Nina is Willow’s mother.
GH Recap: All About Esme
A still-confused Esme questioned Elizabeth about whether Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) is a good lawyer or not. She also wondered if she’d ever remember anything about her life, and Liz assured her that she would at some point. Out at the nurses’ station, Spencer insisted to Laura that he must see Esme for himself to figure out if she is lying about having amnesia or not. While Laura advised Spencer to go easy on the girl due to her pregnancy, she still authorized him to visit Esme in her capacity as mayor. Laura then questioned Elizabeth about Esme and Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma), and Liz was quick to defend Laura’s son.
When Spencer entered Esme’s room, she wondered if they knew each other. Spencer told her that he and his friend, Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali), are the people who found her and brought her to the hospital. Esme thanked him and was then surprised to learn they already knew one another before she appeared on The Haunted Star. Spencer told her they were also once boyfriend and girlfriend. After Esme asked if he is the father of the baby she is carrying, Spencer lied and said that he just might be.
At Wyndemere, Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy) railed against Nikolas for holding Esme captive in the north tower for months, but before they could get far in their argument, Dante and Jordan showed up to search the place to figure out if Esme had been hiding out there. Victor suggested they search everywhere, including the north tower, which he had cleaned up and painted. Too bad Victor didn’t think about the fact that cleaning chemicals and fresh paint have an odor and that Dante’s nose works.
