GH spoilers have teased that Nikolas Cassadine decided that the best way to cover up getting Esme Prince pregnant was to lock her up in his house, wait for Esme to deliver their child, then pass it off as his and Elizabeth Webber’s, while Esme is packed off to Cassadine Island to spend her life as a prisoner. So far, only Liz knows what’s going on. But once Nikolas’s mother, Laura Collins, finds out, we hope she goes ballistic — for this one, particular reason.
GH Spoilers: Remember When
Nikolas (Marcus Coloma) is the son of Laura (Genie Francis) and Stavros Cassadine. Not because of a relationship, not because of a fling, not even because of a one-night stand. But because Stavros’s evil mother, Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers), kidnapped a newlywed Laura away from her husband, Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary), packed her off to Cassadine Island, and then let Stavros rape Laura repeatedly until she became pregnant and gave birth to Nikolas.
Then, when Laura escaped, Helena made it clear to Laura that if she tried to get her son back, if she so much as told Luke or anyone else that the boy existed, Helena would kill her entire family — and she demonstrated it by going after Laura’s mother, Lesley Webber (Denise Alexander).
General Hospital: In Her Shoes
When Laura finds out about Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl), she had better see the parallels between what Helena and Stavros did to her, and what Nikolas is doing to Esme. Yes, she is no saint. Yes, she has done some terrible things. But, no, none of that justifies Nik torturing her — not to mention depriving her of medical care, now and during delivery.

We understand that Laura feels guilty about leaving Nikolas to be raised by the Cassadines, in effect choosing Luke and their children over her first-born son. And that’s legitimate guilt. But it should not, under any circumstances, prompt Laura to excuse what Nikolas is now doing to another young woman.
