In this retro General Hospital recap, it’s Wednesday, June 23, 2021, and Harrison Chase is about to be stung by some pretty devastating news. Fear not. It all works out in the end…eventually.
The good news? The extended Chase family is once again whole, and likely to break out in a chorus of Kumbaya at any minute. The bad news? Chase (Josh Swickard) may be permanently paralyzed from the waist down – a not-so-lovely side effect of the toxin introduced into his system. It really is the gift that keeps on giving.
In her grief, Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) made a big boo-boo: she accused Saint Jason (Steve Burton) of being the man who shot and killed her husband. And now, because of her error in judgment, her house and children are in disarray, and she’s eaten alive with guilt.
The Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) of old would have said, “I told you so,” but widowhood has mellowed her. Fear not. Such a change is not permanent. Instead, she humbly accepted Liz’s apology, and then joined her for an impromptu widows’ support meeting.
Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) had a hunch that the judge she and Shawn Butler (Sean Blakemore) had in common was dirty – and it paid off dividends. They amassed proof that Judge Carson unfairly sentenced defendants of color to longer, harsher sentences – but then they debated on how best to proceed. As you can now see, it all worked out for the best…eventually.
Despite creating a baby together, it suddenly dawned on Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) and Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) that they’d never gone on a proper date. So, to rectify this, the two-headed for Kelly’s, where Brando promised to treat her to her heart’s content.
The awkward meter was raised significantly when the two ran into Molly Lansing-Davis (Haley Pullos) and TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow) – and Brando was forced to admit that he and Molly had once slept together!
Meanwhile, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) and Jason flirted up a storm at the gym. When Carly cottoned on, she put the kibosh on the whole scene. Jealous much?
We’d say that it all worked out in the end, but only TJ and Molly are still living their happily ever after. Brando and Sasha’s baby didn’t make it, and Jason is (supposedly) deader than a doornail. But is death really forever on a soap?
