General Hospital Victor Cassadine
A good villain is hard to keep bad on General Hospital. Sonny Corinthos was once a bad boy, drugging underage girls and having people killed. But, these days, he’s basically a moony-eyed innocent too busy thinking about love and family to be a threat to anyone.
Peter August (Wes Ramsey) bored people rather than terrorized them. Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati) and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) have been defanged to the point of adorableness. Which just leaves Victor Cassadine (Charles Shaughnessy). Should he stay and cause trouble long-term? What almost 7,000 voters told us:
Get that man off my screen, 51% of you demand. Victor has done enough damage for now, and he needs to be brought down for good. He’s threatened Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison), Laura Collins (Genie Francis), and plenty of others. The Cassadines have been nothing but trouble since they first showed up with their fancy accents and their evil weather machine.
Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) and Spencer Cassadine (Nicholas Alexander Chavez) can stay. Everybody else — out! That means you, Victor!
It’s always nice to have a villain on the back-burner who can pop in, stir the pot, then take off again, 28% of the audience concedes. Victor can be that person for Port Charles. But nobody wants to see him full time. Maybe he can go and grow a mustache…so he can come back to twirl it.
Then again, there’s the 21% who find Victor very entertaining. Villains have this tendency to be intense and heavy. See Chamberlin, Ryan (Jon Lindstrom), or the aforementioned Peter. You’d like someone who is having a good time while they’re causing trouble, and Victor definitely fits that bill. If he’s having fun, you’re having fun. And that’s the most important thing.
