After Trina visited Esme and baby Ace in prison on General Hospital, she decided the best thing to do would be to drop the charges against her. Trina’s theory is that if Esme is tried now, she makes a very sympathetic plaintiff, and might be let off. Then she can never be tried for her crimes again. If they let her go now, and Esme regains her memory – and her wicked, wicked ways – then she can still stand trial. Is Trina onto something?
Esme (Avery Kristen Pohl) has a point, 8% are swayed. It’s not fair to try her for something she doesn’t even remember doing. The woman who committed those crimes was a different person. So why punish this one?
No one – except Esme – is claiming that she didn’t do what she’s accused of. She absolutely did drug Trina (Tabyana Ali), and she released Cam (William Lipton) and Joss’s (Eden McCoy) sex tape, and she drugged the guy who could have exposed her. Whether or not she recalls doing it, the crimes were still committed. And Esme needs to be punished for it, 31% of the audience insists. At least a trial, so that all the evidence can be presented, and the chips can fall where they may.
A winning 61%, however, agrees with Trina. Yes, Esme should pay…but only once she remembers what she’s paying for. You want her to suffer. And while she thinks she’s suffering now, she’ll suffer even more if she is fully facing the consequences of her actions. Right now, it’s too easy for Esme to see herself as the victim. Let’s wait to throw the book at her until she knows this is exactly what she deserves. More satisfying for all of us that way.
