Maxie is an honest person. At least, she’s trying to be, now that she’s stopped lying about what happened to baby Louise. And if you ignore those times she lied about her oldest daughter, Georgie. And the way she tried to get Lucky Spencer back in the day.
The point is, this is a new and improved and honest Maxie. And she shouldn’t have to put up with Austin’s (Roger Howarth) lies. Which is why 67% of the General Hospital fans absolutely support her following Austin until she catches him in the act – of talking to his cousin.

Who cares about Maxie, 24% of you dismiss. This is about us, the viewers. Maxie can live in ignorance, but we need to know. This secret has been dragging on for too long, and it’s time to get, if not all the answers, at least a couple of clues. Austin can keep Maxie in the dark, but we deserve answers!
Private Parts
Less than 9% of the General Hospital audience remembers that there is such a thing as personal privacy, and they’re the ones who believe Austin should be allowed to keep his secrets. If he wants Maxie to know, he’ll tell her. If he doesn’t then she needs to respect that. If anyone can understand the importance of subterfuge, it’s Maxie. She’s done it more than most, and always claimed it was for the good!
