Why Haven’t Child Services Been Called on General Hospital’s Finn Yet?

Everyone who knows Finn needs to get Violet to a safe place so he can go to rehab before something bad happens.

As Finn pounds back the liquor like it’s water on General Hospital, everyone has an opinion, but no one is forcing his hand. Chase should contact child support for Violet’s well-being so that everyone can get Finn the help he needs.

Everyone Seems Worried

Parenthood has been a major theme on GH, and Finn’s(Michael Easton) relationship with his daughter Violet (Jophielle Love) has been a wonderful running subplot. Violet has won the hearts of viewers with her innocence and charm. However, the complexities of Finn’s addiction cast a dark shadow over their relationship. They could lead to trouble if it’s not headed off quickly, and he could ultimately lose her forever.

All of Finn’s family and friends are not only concerned about his newfound drinking habit, but they’re even more worried about Violet. While his brother Chase (Josh Swickard) and sister-in-law Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) worked up a plan to have her stay at the Quartermaine mansion for a few weeks, along with several other kids, Finn’s been adamantly against it. Even his good friend Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn), herself an admitted alcoholic, tried to get him to see that he needs rehab, but it fell on deaf ears.

In the June 17 episode, the scenes with the two of them were great, as she came in with a light tone and looked like she was going to leave at one point, but like a shark, she circled the apartment and went right in for the kill. She made him think Violet heard their conversation, and when he realized she wasn’t there, Alexis asked, “How proud do you think she’d be of her dad then?” Sadly, it didn’t seem like even the thought of his daughter hearing about his drinking would get him to stop.

Child Services Needs to Be Involved

If these people really worry for Violet’s well-being, then Port Charles’ child services need to be notified ASAP. While Alexis is not a practicing lawyer, Chase, on the other hand, is a police detective who is most likely obligated to contact the authorities when a child is endangered. Heck, he even told his brother a couple of times about how he’s dealt with situations like Finn’s before but hasn’t done anything about it yet. Perhaps because they are brothers, Chase has been hesitant to make anything official, but if he, Brook Lynn, and Alexis don’t act fast, something horrible is going to happen to Violet while Finn’s lying around, blackout drunk. Or worse, they’ll get into some kind of accident. At that point, it might be too late for anyone to do anything.

We know Anna (Finola Hughes) has her hands full with the Pikeman and Sonny (Maurice Benard) mess, but she was once close to Finn and needs to be contacted. As police commissioner, she wouldn’t hesitate to get the city’s child services involved. Considering Chase’s upstanding status with the community, there’s no doubt that Violet would be put in his care until Finn can get his life back in order. And Finn’s boss Portia (Brook Kerr) needs to order him to go to rehab before he treats any patients while intoxicated. Once Violet is safely in Chase and Brook Lynn’s custody, everyone who knows Finn needs to stage a group intervention and force him to see the light

If not, this whole thing is going to blow up and get incredibly ugly before anything is done, and it would be a terrible shame if that happened.
