Anna should be proud of her granddaughter Emma for standing up for a cause she believed in on General Hospital. However, she’s more perturbed than anything because it turned out Emma not only had a police record but one of her alleged crimes had been sealed, meaning it was probably pretty bad. Emma can’t even disclose what happened because of an NDA she signed. Finola Hughes recently opened up about how Anna feels regarding Emma’s audacious moves.
Emma Has Bold Ideals
Hughes had a conversation with Soap Opera Digest, in which she explained her initial reaction to Anna’s consternation about the reveal that Emma (Braedyn Bruner) has a police record. “It’s really interesting,” she stated, adding, “Anna is written pretty hard with all this stuff, and it took me a while to figure out why.”
The actress revealed that after thinking about what was written, she felt Anna was deathly afraid for Emma. Noting that Emma has been in trouble with the law before, Hughes remarked that the young woman has “This altruistic sort of ‘I’m gonna save the world’ style and ideals.’ And it really freaks Anna out!”

She’s Afraid She’s Looking in a Mirror
Hughes explained that the reason Anna is so taken aback by Emma’s actions is because it reminds her of herself when she was the same age- the time in her life when she was recruited by the WSB. She stated that many of the decisions Anna made at the time were not good. “And I think that at the end of the day, the reason Anna really goes after Emma about a lot of this stuff is because she is terrified that she’s looking in the mirror,” she remarked.

She praised her co-star for being “fantastic” in those scenes and enjoys their screen time together. She further explained that Bruner has “A lot of specificity with what she does, and that’s fantastic to work with someone so young that has that already.” While Emma’s probably not going to join the WSB, it will be exciting to find out what she did that was so bad it had to be sealed.
