When General Hospital star Steve Burton faced his firing in 2021 for not adhering to the show’s COVID vaccine mandate, he took it in stride. He had no regrets, and as expected, he returned to the show earlier this year when the mandate was lifted. He often shares nuggets of wisdom on social media, and recently shared some profound words about two kinds of pain.

Discipline vs Regret

Burton (Jason Morgan) shared a video on Instagram, and captioned it with, “‘What will you choose? The pain of discipline or the pain of regret?’ This quote I believe is by Jim Rohn.” Rohn was an author, entrepreneur, and motivational speaker, and gave people, “life strategies that expanded their imagination of what is possible,” according to his website

Burton expanded on his captioned thoughts, eloquently sharing them in the video. He was out for a walk and reiterated the quote, then continued, “Now the pain of discipline we know the benefits. It’s uncomfortable. We don’t wanna do it. We wanna stay in our comfort zone but you know, the comfort zone is where your dreams go to die and we need to be uncomfortable in life for growth.”

Regret Is Worse

Burton continued, “Now the pain of regret is way worse in my opinion.” He asked fans for their thoughts on the matter, and elaborated, “Regretting things you’ve done and maybe haven’t let go of. Regretting things that you didn’t do.” He mentioned that some people even have regrets on their deathbed, advising, “You get one life. Don’t settle.” He felt for us to be free, we need to shed our daily regrets and asked, “So when our time is expired here, are you going to have regrets?”

Co-star Cameron Mathison (Drew) responded, “Bada$$👊🏼,” to which Burton replied, “@cameronmathison thanks brother.” One fan wrote, “Start now! Never too late 💫🙏🏼,” and Burton responded simply, “Everyday a new chance.” People felt his words were profound and loved his inspirational posts, feeling they learned many things.
