In a town where secrets have toppled dynasties and brought mobsters to their knees, General Hospital is quietly crafting one of its most intriguing arcs yet. Josslyn Jacks, the once-fiery college student with a stubborn streak as wide as the Corinthos family empire, is now moonlighting as a WSB secret agent. The twist? No one knows. Not Carly, not Trina, and not even Sonny, which is why this storyline is so entertaining.

The Beauty of the Burn

Much like Sydney Bristow in the ABC series Alias (complete with a handler named Vaughn), Joss (Eden McCoy) is a college student leading a double life as a spy. Sure, she only had a month of training, but that’s forgivable because it’s a soap. Sometimes, secrets in daytime stories forget pacing, and the storyline goes too fast, causing it to fizzle out before reaching a satisfying boiling point. And if it’s too slow, fans get impatient and lose interest.

But Joss’ espionage arc demands the slow-burn treatment. Viewers deserve time to savor her dangerous double life — the late-night calls, the coded messages, the seemingly innocent classes at PCU that are really cover assignments. Every small clue should simmer until the weight of secrecy becomes unbearable.

After all, spies are called “secret agents” for a reason. Their stories are about deception, lies, double lives, and the thrill of saving the world. Seeing the look on Jason’s (Steve Burton) face when she saved him from a bad guy in Croatia spoke volumes, and the thought of having them fight again side-by-side, with no one else knowing her secret, is compelling beyond reason. (Find out why McCoy thinks Joss’ spy story is gnarly.)

A Powder Keg Waiting to Ignite

The eventual reveal is inevitable, and Carly’s (Laura Wright) reaction when she finds out is going to be worth the price of admission. While she may toss Jack (Chris McKenna) to the curb when she learns he recruited her daughter, a display of Joss saving lives should remedy that. But until then, this is where the storytelling magic lies. Joss should be given room to grow into her role, testing the boundaries of loyalty and fear. Each close call should keep viewers in suspense as they wonder when her secret will finally come out.

When that moment occurs, it has the potential to be one of the most powerful GH reveals in recent history. It will put several relationships to the test: How will Carly react to Jack? Will Jason blow the secret and tell Carly? What will Trina and Emma think? At the very least, her status as a secret agent shouldn’t become known by others until Professor Dalton (Daniel Goddard) is taken down and the good citizens of Port Charles are once again saved from the forces of darkness.
