General Hospital fans breathed a sigh of relief on Monday’s episode when Willow’s eyes were finally opened to the fact that Drew is a wolf in hero’s clothing. Just after Drew said his vows at their wedding, Willow asked if he had slept with her mother, Nina, and he had no choice but to admit it. It happened just as Willow and Drew were supposedly falling in love toward the end of 2024. This has put a major rift between mother and daughter, and while they have yet to confront each other, Nina feels their relationship is broken beyond repair. Cynthia Watros delved into how the final revelation has affected Nina on a fundamental level.
Nina’s Breaking Point
Watros explained to TV Insider about the moment when Nina was finally fed up with Drew’s (Cameron Mathison) scheming antics and decided to admit to Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) that the two had hooked up. Curtis (Donnell Turner) beat Nina to the punch by telling Willow the truth in the hopes that if she dumped Drew, he would back off his blackmail scheme against Curtis and Portia (Brook Kerr).
“It’s been kind of a roller coaster,” she said of the storyline, and revealed that the moment where Nina finally said to Ava (Maura West), “This is it. It’s enough. This is enough,” was improvised. This was a subtle hint that Watros was truly invested in her character and what she thought of Drew manipulating Willow. The actress stated that fighting with MacMullen was difficult “because I love her so much.”

The Moment of Truth Was Heartwrenching
Watros stated that Nina was devastated when she witnessed Willow at the altar, in the middle of her wedding, confronting her groom-to-be, and him admitting his callous behavior. Willow felt that marrying Drew was the only way she’d be able to get access to her kids. “Not only is Nina hurt because she’s no longer in Willow’s life, but she’s also hurt because her beautiful daughter is sacrificing herself for her children.” The actress explained that Nina didn’t think Willow should have done that.

She further explained that her own “heart breaks for Nina” about the situation. Nina now blames herself because she didn’t reveal her physical relationship with Drew earlier. Willow found out from Curtis and confronted Nina just as she was about to confess. Watros stated that Nina tried to clarify the circumstances, but her words fell on deaf ears, remarking, “Nina understands that she should have told her, and it didn’t go well.”
