It’s been years since Nathan was last seen in Port Charles, but Ryan Paevey is finally stepping back into the world of General Hospital. The fans, and Maxie, were devastated when Nathan died, but he hasn’t been forgotten over the years with many mentions and callbacks. Paevey had stepped away from the entertainment world to take care of his mother and work on his own inner peace. Now, after that much-needed break, he’s back and has rejoined the show that launched his career, causing fans to buzz about what will unfold.
Finding His Way Back
In a new interview with TV Insider, Paevey shared that his return started with a simple text from executive producer Frank Valentini. “He said they had some ideas for a few other characters that were in my orbit and was wondering if I might be willing to come back so they could make some of that arc a little bit richer,” he stated. During that time, he had been living away from the chaos of Hollywood to focus on himself.
But the offer to return awoke something within himself. His time away wasn’t wasted, as he spent it surfing, working in his shop, and steering clear of social media. He found it to be refreshing, returning calmer and more grounded, ready to dive into the fast-paced soap world again.
Nostalgia Meets New Stories
Stepping onto the GH stage was like walking into a time capsule for Paevey. He found many of the same crew, familiar faces, and even joked about passing the coffin he was last seen in. The sense of nostalgia swelled up in him, and he was excited to reconnect with former castmates like Finola Hughes (Anna) and Dominic Zamprogna (Dante).
He admitted that early on, his whole experience was more of a trial by fire. But from that he gained lasting friendships, great experience, and formed a foundation for everything that would come later. Now, he’s prepared to give it his all and bring everything full circle. Although the details of his return are still under wraps, Paevey teased that his story this time around will be anything but “vanilla.”
