Michael has put his foot down with Willow on General Hospital and is standing his ground. She’s become unstable recently and had a meltdown in court when the judge awarded Michael full custody of their kids. Michael’s not going to let her anywhere near their children until she cleans up her act and shows herself to be a stable and positive force. Rory Gibson has only been playing the character since May and mastered the role, becoming an almost instant fan-favorite. He recently opened up about this amazing opportunity he was given.
The Story Is Exciting
In an interview with Digital Journal, Gibson revealed how he felt about being cast as Michael. “It has been incredible! Everybody there has been so welcoming and so kind,” he enthusiastically remarked. He finds the latest storyline that Michael’s involved in to be rather “exciting,” and noted that, “I feel I got thrown into the fire in [the] best possible way, and I am thoroughly enjoying it.”
His choice of words was ironic, considering that just before Chad Duell exited the part, Michael was nearly burned alive when an incendiary device intended for his father went off. Michael was shipped off to a German clinic for experimental treatment and returned in the form of Gibson. He described his character as “enigmatic.”

Michael Is Complex
Gibson continued to explain how the role has been incredible for him. He explained that Michael is so complex he can be different from one scene to another, stating, “I’ve had these moments with the kids and with family where Michael is so gentle, loving, and kind.” But by the same token, Michael has a ruthless side, and Gibson remarked, “So it has been fun playing both ends of that spectrum.”
He also loves working with Maurice Benard (Sonny) and Laura Wright (Carly), who he described as “the best TV parents.” He revealed that Wright has become something of an acting coach for him and knows her way around the scenes. He also gushed that Benard is “a raw talent,” whose presence dominates a room. Ultimately, he gushed, “I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my time with both of them.” (Learn about the trick Gibson used during the court scenes.)
