For decades on General Hospital, Heather Webber (Alley Mills) has been everyone’s favorite villainess. But the March 15 episode just revealed a diagnosis that’s not only about to change Heather’s life, but may also change her past.
Heather has been known as a Port Charles villain since the 70s when she attempted to slip her rival Diana Taylor (Brooke Bundy) some LSD. From then on, Heather’s life was a constant crime spree of drugging, killing, and escaping mental institutions. One of her most memorable moments was when she wrote another rival’s name — Anne (Susan Pratt) — in blood in attempt to frame her for Diana’s murder.
In recent years, Heather is remembered as “The Hook,” the town’s serial killer who murdered Brando (Johnny Wactor) and Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) with a poisonous hook, and attacked Ava (Maura West) and Diane (Carolyn Hennesy), among others. When she was finally caught, she was sent to D’Archam Asylum and not seen again until recently when she made an unexpected visit to GH for hip pain from an apparent hip replacement.
Heather’s hip pain turned into much more recently when — after attempting to kill Cyrus (Jeff Kober) in the chapel — she collapsed, unable to catch her breath. Finn (Michael Easton) set out on the case to diagnose her in order to get her back to the asylum before she could cause any more harm.
After conferring with Portia (Brook Kerr) and another doctor, it was revealed that Heather’s hip replacement has been leaking poison into her, which could then cause several neurological issues, including causing her to say and do things she normally wouldn’t. This diagnosis shocked Laura (Genie Francis), who has now been left wondering if the poisoning is the reason Heather has committed so many crimes in recent years.
Giving Heather this excuse, of course, completely rewrites history, considering Heather has been committing crimes for decades, and it was never confirmed when she got the hip replacement. It also feels repetitive of the way GH redeemed Franco (Roger Howarth) — who not-so-coincidentally happened to be Hather’s son — by giving him a brain tumor that caused his murderous ways.
Do you think GH is majorly rewriting history with Heather’s new storyline? Let us know in the comments.
