It’s been 26 years in the making, but it’s finally time to welcome Rena Sofer back to General Hospital as Brooklyn’s own music manager extraordinaire, Lois Cerullo.
The wait will finally be over on October 10 when Lois returns to the GH scene. The character was last seen nearly two decades ago, in 2005, when Lesli Kay played the role that Sofer originated back in 1993. Sofer won a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress for bringing Lois to life, but the last time she stepped into her shoes was in 1997.
Lois has been spoken of a lot of late with Ned (Wally Kurth) believing he really is Eddie Maine, the alter ego who she music managed (and fell in love with in the 1990s). This new version of Eddie, who has no knowledge of Ned, vaguely remembers Lois, but their daughter Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) has been filling in some blanks. Brook Lynn was also bragging about her music manager mother when she was trying to woo Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) to sign on as her client.
As of now, Sofer is not expected to be back long-term, but that can always change. Neddie is currently having trouble completing a song he is trying to write, but Lois was always his muse, so perhaps her presence will be just what he needs to get those lyrics out.
The question remains — how will Olivia (Lisa LoCicero) feel about Lois’s presence in Neddie’s life? She has started falling for the man her husband now thinks he is and might not like seeing him interested in the only person he remembers as this persona. Will we have a new love triangle on our hands, and who will win the battle for Neddie’s heart in the end?
