When Finn returned to work after his leave, things didn’t end well for the doctors of General Hospital on the June 20, 2024 episode.
Finn (Michael Easton) prepared for his first day back at GH, and despite his urge to take a drink, he put the liquor away and grabbed his badge. The first person he saw was Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), letting her know he was coming back to work earlier than planned.
Things quickly took a turn when Portia (Brook Kerr) approached him and requested he meet with her and Terry (Cassandra James). Finn immediately knew what it was about, shooting Elizabeth a glare as he followed Portia.
Portia and Terry were calm and understanding when they informed Finn they knew he had been drinking since his father’s death, but that didn’t stop Finn from becoming defensive. Two against one, Finn told them he would submit to a blood test right then, but Portia told him his only option was to agree to meetings and daily check-ins.
This sent Finn over the edge, going off about how GH is still running because of his gesture to sign over his patent for his Blackwood’s cure to secure funds for the hospital. “Besides being a father, medicine is all I have, and you want to take it away from me!” he shouted.
The confrontation ended with an unexpected outcome when Finn decided he would save them the trouble by quitting right then and there. He then found Elizabeth and lashed out at her, blaming her for how things ended. When he arrived home, he immediately began downing drinks while Violet (Jophielle Love, who recently kickstarted her music career) was expected to be coming home soon.
