Laura Wright confronted a rumor that she's exiting GH.
As always, rumors abound on the internet about soap actors coming and going, and recently General Hospital star Laura Wright had to deal with it. Thankfully, she was able to clarify her standing on the show.
Recently, a fan shared a screenshot of a Facebook post on X, formerly Twitter, that had a picture of GH’s Laura Wright and stated, “Big Casting Shakeup, Carly Out of GH? Laura Wright Drops Hints.” The fan captioned it with, “Why [do] you people lie? Let’s ask the woman herself. Hey @lldubs, is this true?” Wright responded immediately with an emphatic, “NOT TRUE.”
The rumor may have started back in May when a fan posted on X, “Expect a very very popular and beloved actress to possibly be out this year. I’d be shocked if the original path doesn’t go to plan. #GH.”
While GH had a bombshell return in January when Brighton Hertford, who played BJ Jones, came back as a possible ghost or angel, Monsters and Critics reported on June 7 that three cast members were rumored to be leaving the show in the coming months. Gregory Harrison (Gregory) has already departed, and the outlet speculated that the other two could be Michael Easton (Finn) and Maura West (Ava). Still, since nothing has been officially reported, it’s mere speculation at this point.
Wright has been the subject of exit rumors several times before, yet she remains in front burner stories on the show. On February 4, 2022, she retweeted a post that asked, “@lldubs are you leaving GH????” Her response was, “Nope. People love to start rumors 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️.”
Later that year, in July, another fan wrote, “@lldubs There is a rumor going round that [sic] your leaving #GH Is this true? PLEASE say it’s not true! Your [sic] the greatest, definitely the GREATEST CARLY!! ❣️🙏💕❤️🌹🦋.” Wright, who was probably tired of hearing rumors at that point, responded, “Oh jeez. No, I’m not leaving :))”
And, finally, on October 2, 2023, she wrote on X, “Not sure how these crazy rumors get started, but heck no, I’m not going anywhere. I’ll stay as long as you guys will have me. !!! #CarlysWorld!!! @GeneralHospital #GHBaby 🙏🏻❤️.”
