When an astounding General Hospital trailer was accidentally released ahead of schedule last week, the internet was practically on fire over it. The teaser in question was 15 seconds of torture as Michael Corinthos flailed about screaming for help while on fire in Sonny’s penthouse. It was an agonizing scene both for Michael and the fans, and Laura Wright, who plays his mother Carly, praised the show for its amazing, edge-of-your-seat storytelling.
Fans Were Fired Up
On X, formerly Twitter, Michael Fairman shared a post titled, “General Hospital Promo: A Fire Changes Everything for the Corinthos Family, Cyrus Continues to be a Threat.” Wright retweeted that post with the caption, “Super proud of our story and the work!!” Whether or not supervillain Sidwell (Carlo Rota) is behind the explosion that engulfs Michael (Chad Duell) in flames remains to be seen. But one thing’s for certain: Carly and the fans will be beside themselves as they watch the horrific events unfold.
One fan’s response was a rallying cry that exclaimed, “Whatever Carly has to do to avenge this…so BE it‼️.” Another loving fan looked forward with anticipation by responding, “That was brutal to watch a beloved character go through that today. I can’t imagine the emotional storyline coming up for you all. You all are amazing actors 👏🏼.” Another viewer eagerly enjoying the excitement wrote, “This is going to be some extremely intense stuff. I know you all will bring it! This has got to be emotionally exhausting.”

Some Viewers Were Fuming
Other fans of the show were upset at such a dark and twisted way for Duell to exit the show, as he had announced in November 2024. One fan reacted negatively with the response, “This was too much. Yes he wanted a break. Fine! But to have him exit like this was horrible. Yes, it is a soap, but Michael deserved better.” Another fan figuratively threw their hands in the air with the reaction, “It’s too much. The show has just gotten too dark and depressing.”
Another grieving fan responded, “The only way I can handle this unnecessarily violence story telling is if at least Morgan returns. It’s way too dark for the audience to put up with. Two dead, months apart. One burned.” And one viewer who’s completely upset wrote, “This is too much! Michael has suffered already. Did not want to see him innocently get blown over and set on fire as his wife screws his uncle!”
But one loyal fan towed the line by commenting, “Looking forward to watching all of you act the hell out of the scenes to come. Can’t wait to see Carly get some justice for Michael. Going to miss Chad & hope he does not stay away too long. We need our Michael!❤️.”
