Kathleen Gati has wonderfully portrayed Dr. Liesl Obrecht, who started off as a villain and eventually became an upstanding citizen on General Hospital. As such, she’s enjoyed a long, warm connection with her fans, and her latest post illustrated her love for animals, capturing the hearts of her followers.

Turtles Are a Major Passion

On July 14, GH star Kathleen Gati took to X, formerly Twitter, to share an amazing hobby of hers. She posted a photo of herself with a rather large tortoise, captioning it, “I raised turtles for many years and they are one of my huge passions that many of you know about! Such a wonderful experience being this close to a magnificent tortoise! #Joy #turtles #tortoises #zoo #love.” The fans were suitably moved, and one who truly appreciated her uplifting post, responded, “I did not know that about you. Thank you so much for showing that to us and thank you so much for posting positive posts❤️❤️ Beautiful pictures of turtles instead of making everything political! I miss you terribly on GH.” (Find out why Liesl is so beloved!)

Along with questions about when she’ll be returning to Port Charles, many fans asked about the age of the turtle, and applauded her love of all animals. While she didn’t reveal any details about the cute reptile, it was clear that it didn’t really matter to the fans, who were just happy to see her post. Another follower was blown away by her pic, sharing, “Wow, i didn’t know that! Very cool ❤️ Now whenever I see a turtle I will think of you…and send you a virtual hug 🤗.”

Turtle Lovers, Unite!

Most of her fans shared their love for turtles as one replied, “🐢Over many years my sympathy for turtles grew, then my understanding. They are smart, they play. They are prehistoric. They hurt. They need some serious PROTECTION. Sea ambassadors.🐢. Good to see my favorite person stepping up. Bless you KG.”

Another of Gati’s followers excitedly responded, “My family and I are vacationing in South Padre Island in a couple of weeks and a bunch of sea turtles are scheduled to hatch while we are there. Hoping to see the little guys make a break for the ocean!!” A quick search online reveals that turtles come in various sizes ranging from three feet to over 10’, depending on what type they are, and the large one in Gati’s photo is probably six feet or longer.

Even the ads that popped up were turtle-centric, and many of her fans hoped to see her back on GH in the near future, perhaps patching things up with Scotty (Kin Shriner)!
