John Stamos Shares Rare General Hospital Scene, Sends Love To GH Cast

Stamos played more than just Blackie on GH.

 Comments

Most will remember – or have at least heard of – John Stamos as Blackie on General Hospital from 1982-1984. Now, the actor is sending love to the show that started it all for him by sharing a rare scene from his time on the soap.

Stamos Fans In Port Charles

In an Instagram post on June 25, 2024, Stamos shared a clip from a 1992 episode where he guest-starred as none other than John Stamos. During the scene, Scott (Kin Shriner) gets starstruck when he spots Stamos, breaking the fourth wall when he says, “I have followed your career since Blackie on General Hospital.”

Scott proceeds to try and touch Stamos’ beloved locks, then introduces him to Dominique (ex-Shell Danielson) and Julia (ex-Crystal Carson).

“I did a guest spot on @generalhospitalabc years ago as myself and of course, got to work with one of my all-time favorite actors and good friend @kinshriner,” Stamos captioned the post. “I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again -without General Hospital I’d probably still be flipping burgers at my dad‘s restaurant. I’m so grateful to the cast, crew and my good friends that were great mentors and great teachers. God bless General Hospital!”

Never-ending Crossovers

In real life, Stamos has been friends with Shriner since his time on GH, and fans were quick to mention in the comments that Scott’s portrayer once guest-starred on Stamos’ sitcom Full House. Shriner appeared in a Season 4 episode as the cop who arrests Stamos’ Jesse on his wedding day. The actor often posts on social about supporting Stamos at his gigs playing drums with The Beach Boys, and in 2023, Stamos made a special appearance on 2 Dicks, Shriner’s Instagram comedy show with former GH star Marcus Coloma (ex-Nikolas).

The scene Stamos shared remains relevant to GH today as Dominique’s son, Cody (Josh Kelly), prepares to reveal to Mac (John J. York, who just returned to GH following his cancer battle) that he’s his father.

While Stamos hasn’t returned to the soap since this guest stint, the actor did appear on the primetime special General Hospital: 60 Years of Stars and Storytelling earlier this year, where he shared fond memories about his time in Port Charles.
