General Hospital’s James Patrick Stuart Reveals The Funniest Man He Knows

James Patrick Stuart is known for playing General Hospital’s once-feared Valentin Cassadine. Valentin surprised fans when he played piano and sang on the show, illustrating Stuart’s innate talent. Stuart also has some great comedy chops, from doing the voice for Private in The Penguins of Madagascar and playing Kraniac on The Villains of Valley View. While those last two roles show off just how hilarious Stuart can be, he claims that someone else is funnier than him in the entertainment industry.

Friend and Teacher

Stuart wrote on X, formerly Twitter, “It’s not good to name-drop. You know who taught me that? Andy Richter. Throwback to 2009 when he and I were working together on DreamWorks’ Penguins of Madagascar. Hands down the funniest man I’ve known…And I’ve known a lot of funny people.” He attached a photo of himself holding a Bafta Award (although it’s not his), with Richter standing next to him, exuding fake tears. 

One fan hilariously responded with, “Michael Knight’s a close second, right?” Knight plays Valentin’s lawyer, Martin Grey, and the actors are close friends in real life and have made a few comedic videos together. Stuart also appeared in the 2002 to 2003 TV series, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, with his eponymous buddy, and in April he declared that show as his favorite paid role.

Private Helped Break the Ice

Many fans responded to his post declaring that they would like to see him back on GH soon, as one wrote, “Miss seeing you on GH.  I really liked you in Pretty Woman. I used to listen to your dad all the time.  Your voice is amazing. ❤️.” Stuart’s Dad is Chad Stuart, one half of the famous 1960s singing duo with Jeremy Clyde called Chad & Jeremy. The actor, stunned by the fan’s love for Chad, replied, “Wow. Thanks.”

Another of Stuart’s followers loved his animated turn, gushing, “Yeah, your character Private was great. 😂😂😂😂😂😂.” Richter also appeared as Mort in the Madagascar series of films as well as The Penguins of Madagascar, and it’s clear he and Stuart are cut from the same comedy cloth.
